A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 This Book has been sent down to you; so do not hesitate to warn (the unbelievers) through it, and remind the faithful. 2 Follow (O men!) the revelation given unto you from your Lord, and follow not, as friends or protectors, other than Him. Little it is ye remember of admonition. 3 How many a village have We laid in ruin! In the night Our Might fell upon it, or at midday when they were drowsy. 4 And when Our scourge fell upon them their only cry was: 'We are indeed transgressors.' 5 Then shall we question those to whom Our message was sent and those by whom We sent it. 6 And verily, We shall recount their whole story with knowledge, for We were never absent (at any time or place). 7 The weighing that day is true; he whose scales are heavy -- they are the prosperers, 8 And whosesoever balances will be light - those are they who have lost themselves in respect of Our signs. 9 And assuredly We established you in the earth and appointed for you livelihoods therein; yet little thanks ye return. 10
