A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Suad. 1 O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), a Book has been sent down upon you, therefore may not your heart be disinclined towards it, so that you may give warning with it, and as an advice for the Muslims. 2 Follow (O men!) the revelation given unto you from your Lord, and follow not, as friends or protectors, other than Him. Little it is ye remember of admonition. 3 Many a habitation have We laid low before: Our retribution came upon them in the night or in the midst of siesta at noon. 4 Then naught was their cry when Our violence came upon them save that they said: verily we have been the wrong-doers. 5 We will certainly question the people and the Messengers sent to them. 6 Then most certainly We will relate to them with knowledge, and We were not absent. 7 And true will be the weighing on that Day; and those whose weight [of good deeds] is heavy in the balance - it is they, they who shall attain to a happy state; 8 And as for those whose scale is light: those are they who lose their souls because they used to wrong Our revelations. 9 And indeed We established you in the earth and in it created for you the means of livelihood; very little thanks do you offer! 10
