A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Mim, Sad. 1 This Book has been sent down to you; so do not hesitate to warn (the unbelievers) through it, and remind the faithful. 2 (Saying): Follow that which is sent down unto you from your Lord, and follow no protecting friends beside Him. Little do ye recollect! 3 How many a township We have destroyed! Our scourge fell upon them at night, or when they were taking midday rest. 4 And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said, "Indeed, we were wrongdoers!" 5 So We shall question those unto whom a Message was sent, and We shall question the Envoys, 6 Then surely We will recount unto them with knowledge, and We have not been absent. 7 The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper: 8 And whosesoever balances will be light - those are they who have lost themselves in respect of Our signs. 9 We have made you inhabit the land and provided you with the means of sustenance. Only a few of you give thanks. 10
