A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 This Book has been sent down to you; so do not hesitate to warn (the unbelievers) through it, and remind the faithful. 2 Follow (O men!) the revelation given unto you from your Lord, and follow not, as friends or protectors, other than Him. Little it is ye remember of admonition. 3 How many towns We have destroyed. Our scourge fell upon them by night or at midday when they were resting: 4 When (thus) Our punishment took them, no cry did they utter but this: "Indeed we did wrong." 5 So We shall call to account those to whom Messengers were sent, and We shall call to account the Messengers (to see how dutifully they conveyed the Message, and how people responded to it). 6 Then verily We shall narrate unto them (the event) with knowledge, for We were not absent (when it came to pass). 7 The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper: 8 and those whose good deeds are light [in the balance] will be the ones who have lost themselves because they wrongfully rejected Our signs. 9 And We have certainly established you upon the earth and made for you therein ways of livelihood. Little are you grateful. 10
