And We have certainly created you, [O Mankind], and given you [human] form. Then We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam"; so they prostrated, except for Iblees. He was not of those who prostrated. 11 Said Allah, “What prevented you, that you did not prostrate when I commanded you?” Answered Iblis, “I am better than him; You created me from fire whereas You created him from clay.” 12 Allah said: 'Then get you down from here. It does not behove you to be arrogant here. So be gone. You will be among the humiliated.' 13 Said [Iblis]: "Grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead." 14 Said He, 'Thou art among the ones that are respited.' 15 Then Satan said, "Because You have put me in the wrong, I will lie in ambush for them on Your straight path: 16 and shall most certainly fall upon them openly as well as in a manner beyond their ken, and from their right and from their left: and most of them Thou wilt find ungrateful." 17 Allah said: 'Go away from here - disgraced and expelled. I shall fill the Hell with all those that follow you. 18 'O Adam dwell with your wife in Paradise, and eat from whatever you please; but never approach this tree or you shall both become harmdoers' 19 But Satan tempted them so that he might reveal to them their nakedness which had been hidden from them. He said, "Your Lord has forbidden you to approach this tree lest you should become angels or become of the immortals," 20 And he swore to them, 'Truly, I am for you a sincere adviser.' 21 Then he caused them to fall by deceit; so when they tasted of the tree, their evil inclinations became manifest to them, and they both began to cover themselves with the leaves of the garden; and their Lord called out to them: Did I not forbid you both from that tree and say to you that the Shaitan is your open enemy? 22 They said: Our Lord! We have been unjust to ourselves, and if Thou forgive us not, and have (not) mercy on us, we shall certainly be of the losers. 23 Allah said: 'Go down; you are enemies one of the other. For you there is dwelling and provision on the earth for a while.' 24 He said, "Therein you will live, and therein you will die, and from it you will be brought forth." 25
