We created you then We shaped you, then We said to the angels: 'Prostrate yourselves before Adam' They all prostrated themselves except iblis he was not among the prostrated. 11 He (Allah) asked: 'What prevented you to prostrate, when I commanded you' 'I am better than he' he replied. 'You created me of fire and You created him of clay' 12 [Allah] said, "Descend from Paradise, for it is not for you to be arrogant therein. So get out; indeed, you are of the debased. 13 He said: respite me till the Day they shall be raised up. 14 Allah said: 'You are granted respite.' 15 He said: As Thou hast caused me to remain disappointed I will certainly lie in wait for them in Thy straight path. 16 then I shall come on them from before them and from behind them, from their right hands and their left hands; Thou wilt not find most of them thankful.' 17 (Allah) said (to Iblis) "Get out from this (Paradise) disgraced and expelled. Whoever of them (mankind) will follow you, then surely I will fill Hell with you all." 18 And "O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat from wherever you will but do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers." 19 Then Satan created apprehensions in their hearts in order to disclose to them matters of their shame which were hidden from them, and said, “Your Lord has forbidden you from this tree, for you may become angels or immortals.” 20 Then he said to them on oath: "I am your sincere friend;" 21 So he brought them down with deception; and when they tasted from that tree, their shame became manifest to them and they began attaching the leaves of Paradise on themselves; and their Lord said to them, “Did I not forbid you from that tree, and tell you that Satan is an open enemy to you?” 22 They said, 'Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if Thou dost not forgive us, and have mercy upon us, we shall surely be among the lost.' 23 He said: Get forth, some of you, the enemies of others, and there is for you in the earth an abode and a provision for a time. 24 He said: There shall ye live, and there shall ye die, and thence shall ye be brought forth. 25
