۞ AND UNTO [the tribe of] 'Ad [We sent] their brother Hud. He said: "O my people! Worship God alone: you have no deity other than Him. Will you not, then, be conscious of Him?" 65 The unbelievers among the leading men of his people said: 'Indeed we see you in folly, and consider you to be liars.' 66 'My nation, there is no foolishness in me' he replied. 'I am a Messenger of the Lord of the Worlds 67 I deliver to you the messages of my Lord and I am a faithful adviser to you: 68 "Do ye wonder that there hath come to you a message from your Lord through a man of your own people, to warn you? call in remembrance that He made you inheritors after the people of Noah, and gave you a stature tall among the nations. Call in remembrance the benefits (ye have received) from Allah: that so ye may prosper." 69 They said: "You have come to us that we should worship Allah Alone and forsake that which our fathers used to worship. So bring us that wherewith you have threatened us if you are of the truthful." 70 He replied, "You will certainly be afflicted by wickedness and the wrath of God. Do you dispute with me about the names of that which you and your fathers have invented? God has given no authority to those names. Wait for God's decree and I, too, am waiting with you." 71 We saved him and those who adhered to him. By Our mercy, and We cut off the roots of those who rejected Our signs and did not believe. 72
