And to Thamud (people, We sent) their brother Salih (Saleh). He said: "O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other Ilah (God) but Him. (La ilaha ill-Allah: none has the right to be worshipped but Allah). Indeed there has come to you a clear sign (the miracle of the coming out of a huge she-camel from the midst of a rock) from your Lord. This she-camel of Allah is a sign unto you; so you leave her to graze in Allah's earth, and touch her not with harm, lest a painful torment should seize you. 73 Remember, how you were made leaders after the people of 'Ad, and were settled on the land so that you could construct on the plains palaces, and carve dwellings out of mountains. So think of the favours of God, and do not act with corruption in the land." 74 The proud assembly of his nation said to the weak? amongst them who believed: 'Do you really believe that Salih is sent from his Lord' They answered: 'We believe in that with which he was sent' 75 Those who were haughty said: Surely we are deniers of what you believe in. 76 Then they hamstrung the she-camel and rebelled against the command of their Lord, and said: "Bring, O Saleh, on us the affliction you promise, if you are one of the sent ones." 77 Whereupon an earthquake seized them, so that they lay prone in their dwellings. 78 He left them, saying, "My people, I delivered my Lord's messages to you and counselled you sincerely, but you do not like sincere advisors." 79 We sent Lot, who said to his people, "How can you commit an abomination such as no one in the world has ever done before you? 80 You approach men lustfully instead of women. Truly, you are a nation who exceed (in sin)' 81 Their only answer was: 'Banish them from your town. They are a people who pretend to be pure.' 82 Thereupon We saved him and his household except his wife, who was among those that stayed behind 83 the while We rained a rain [of destruction] upon the others: and behold what happened in the end to those people lost in sin! 84
