And to (the tribe of) Thamud (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other Allah save Him. A wonder from your Lord hath come unto you. Lo! this is the camel of Allah, a token unto you; so let her feed in Allah's earth, and touch her not with hurt lest painful torment seize you. 73 And remember when He appointed you successors after Ad, and lodged you in the land, taking to yourselves castles of its plains, and hewing its mountains into houses. Remember God's bounties, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption.' 74 The haughty elders of his people said to those believers who had been oppressed: 'Do you know that Salih is one sent forth with a message from his Lord?' They, replied: 'Surely we believe in the message with which he has been sent.' 75 Those who were haughty said: Surely we are deniers of what you believe in. 76 So they hamstrung the She-camel and turned in disdain from the commandment of their Lord, saying, 'O Salih, bring us that thou promisest us, if thou art an Envoy.' 77 So the earthquake seized them, and morning found them in their habitation fallen prostrate. 78 He left them, saying, "My people, I delivered my Lord's messages to you and counselled you sincerely, but you do not like sincere advisors." 79 We also (sent) Lut: He said to his people: "Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? 80 Most surely you come to males in lust besides females; nay you are an extravagant people. 81 But his people's only answer was this: "Expel them from your land! Verily, they are folk who make themselves out to be pure!" 82 But we saved him and his family, except his wife: she was of those who legged behind. 83 And We rained down on them a rain (of stones). Then see what was the end of the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). 84
