Al-A 'araaf 10 of 24
To the Thamud We sent their brother Salih. He said, "O my people, worship God; you have no other god but Him. A veritable proof has come to you from your Lord: this is God's she-camel, a sign for you, so let her feed in God's land and do not harm her in any way, or you will be overwhelmed by a painful punishment. 73 "And remember how He made you heirs to [the tribe of] 'Ad and settled you firmly on earth, so that you [are able to] build for yourselves castles on its plains and hew out mountains [to serve you] as dwellings: remember, then, God's blessings, and do not act wickedly on earth by spreading corruption." 74 The proud ones among Salih's people asked his oppressed followers, "Do you (really) know that Salih is a Messenger of his Lord?" They replied, "We have faith in the Message which he preaches". 75 [But] the arrogant ones said: "Behold, what you have come to believe in we refuse to regard as true!" 76 Then they ham-strung the she-camel, and insolently defied the order of their Lord, saying: "O Salih! bring about thy threats, if thou art a messenger (of Allah)!" 77 Thereupon an earthquake overtook them: and then they lay lifeless, in their very homes, on the ground. 78 Then he turned from them, and said: O my people! Assuredly I delivered unto you the messages of my Lord, and counselled you good, but ye approve not the good counsellors. 79 Lot told his people, "Why do you commit such indecent acts that have never been committed by anyone before? 80 “You lustfully go towards men, instead of women! In fact, you have transgressed the limits.” 81 Their only answer was: 'Banish them from your town. They are a people who pretend to be pure.' 82 So We saved him and his family -- except for his wife. She was one of those who stayed behind. 83 And We rained a shower (of stones) upon them; therefore see what sort of fate befell the culprits! 84

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
