Al-A 'araaf 12 of 24
And We sent no prophet unto any township but We did afflict its folk with tribulation and adversity that haply they might grow humble. 94 But when We changed hardship to ease, and they rose and prospered, (they forgot Our favours) and said: "Our ancestors had also known suffering and joy." So We caught them unawares. 95 And if the people of the townships had believed and kept from evil, surely We should have opened for them blessings from the sky and from the earth. But (unto every messenger) they gave the lie, and so We seized them on account of what they used to earn. 96 Are the people of the townships then secure from the coming of Our wrath upon them as a night-raid while they sleep? 97 Or, did the people of the towns then feel secure against the coming of Our Punishment in the forenoon while they play? 98 What! do they then feel secure from Allah's plan? But none feels secure from Allah's plan except the people who shall perish. 99
