Al-A 'araaf 12 of 24

And We sent no Prophet unto any town (and they denied him), but We seized its people with suffering from extreme poverty (or loss in wealth) and loss of health and calamities, so that they might humiliate themselves (and repent to Allah). 94 Then changed We the evil plight for good till they grew affluent and said: Tribulation and distress did touch our fathers. Then We seized them unawares, when they perceived not. 95 And if only the people of the cities had believed and feared Allah, We would have opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth; but they denied [the messengers], so We seized them for what they were earning." 96 Do the people of those towns feel secure that Our punishment will not come to them at night while they are asleep? 97 Or else did they feel secure against its coming in broad daylight while they played about (care-free)? 98 Do they feel secure against God's devising? No one feels secure against God's devising except for those doomed to ruin. 99
