And We sent no prophet unto any township but We did afflict its folk with tribulation and adversity that haply they might grow humble. 94 But when We changed hardship to ease, and they rose and prospered, (they forgot Our favours) and said: "Our ancestors had also known suffering and joy." So We caught them unawares. 95 And if the people of the townships had believed and kept from evil, surely We should have opened for them blessings from the sky and from the earth. But (unto every messenger) they gave the lie, and so We seized them on account of what they used to earn. 96 Do the people of the cities feel secure Our might shall not come upon them at night while they are sleeping? 97 Or do the people of the dwellings not fear that Our wrath may come upon them during the day, while they are playing? 98 Are then they secure against the contrivance of Allah? And none feeleth secure against the contrivance of Allah except the people who are losers. 99
