We have sent no Prophet to any city but that We seized its people with misery and hardship, that haply they might be humble; 94 But when We changed hardship to ease, and they rose and prospered, (they forgot Our favours) and said: "Our ancestors had also known suffering and joy." So We caught them unawares. 95 But if the people of these regions had believed and feared God, We would surely have showered on them blessings of the heavens and the earth; but they only denied, and We punished them for their deeds. 96 Then, did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them at night while they were asleep? 97 Or, do they feel secure against the coming of Our punishment upon them in the forenoon while they are at play? 98 Do they feel secure against God's devising? No one feels secure against God's devising except for those doomed to ruin. 99
