Never have We sent a Prophet to a place without trying its people with adversity and hardship that they may humble themselves. 94 Then We exchanged in place of the bad [condition], good, until they increased [and prospered] and said, "Our fathers [also] were touched with hardship and ease." So We seized them suddenly while they did not perceive. 95 Had the people of the towns believed (in Our revelations) and maintained piety, We would have certainly showered on them Our blessings from the sky and the earth. But they called Our revelations lies, thus Our torment struck them for their evil deeds. 96 Do the inhabitants of the villages feel secure from Our Might coming to them at night whilst they sleep? 97 or that which could seize them during their busy hours of the day? 98 Are they then secure from Allah's scheme? None deemeth himself secure from Allah's scheme save folk that perish. 99
