Is it not plain to those who inherit the earth after its inhabitants that if We willed We could smite them for their sins and set a seal upon their hearts, so that they do not hear. 100 Such were the towns whose story We (thus) relate unto thee: There came indeed to them their messengers with clear (signs): But they would not believe what they had rejected before. Thus doth Allah seal up the hearts of those who reject faith. 101 We did not find most of them true to their covenants; indeed We found most of them to be transgressors. 102 Then, after them, We sent Moses with our tokens unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they repelled them. Now, see the nature of the consequence for the corrupters! 103 Moses said: "O Pharaoh! I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds,- 104 And it behoves me to say nothing about Allah except what is true. I have come to you with a clear sign of having been sent from your Lord. So let the Children of Israel go with me.' 105 He said: if thou hast brought a sign, forth with it then, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 106 Then Moses threw down his staff and suddenly, unmistakably, it appeared as a serpent, 107 And he drew out his hand, and behold! it was white (with radiance) for the beholders. 108
