Is it not plain to those who inherit the earth after its inhabitants that if We willed We could smite them for their sins and set a seal upon their hearts, so that they do not hear. 100 Such were the towns whose story We (thus) relate unto thee: There came indeed to them their messengers with clear (signs): But they would not believe what they had rejected before. Thus doth Allah seal up the hearts of those who reject faith. 101 And We did not find for most of them any covenant; but indeed, We found most of them defiantly disobedient. 102 Then we raised after them Musa with Our communications to Firon and his chiefs, but they disbelieved in them; consider then what was the end of the mischief makers. 103 Moses said: O Pharaoh! Lo! I am a messenger from the Lord of the Worlds, 104 "I am duty bound to speak nothing of God but the truth I have brought from your Lord a clear sign; so let the people of Israel depart with me." 105 He said: If you have come with a sign, then bring it, if you are of the truthful ones. 106 Thereupon Moses threw his rod, and suddenly it was a veritable serpent. 107 And he drew forth his hand (from his bosom), and lo! it was white for the beholders. 108
