1/4 Hizb 17
< random >
Said the eminent among the people of Pharaoh, "Indeed, this is a learned magician 109 Who wants to expel you from your land [through magic], so what do you instruct?" 110 Others said: 'Put them off a while, he and his brother, and send forth to your cities gatherers 111 And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed." 112 And the sorcerers came unto Pharaoh [and] said: "Verily, we ought to have a great reward if it is we who prevail." 113 "Yes," said he, "you will be among the honoured." 114 Then they said: 'O Moses, will you [first] throw your rod, or shall we throw?' 115 He said, "You throw [first]!" When they made their cast, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck them with awe, for they showed a great [feat of] magic. 116 And We revealed to Moses: 'Cast thy staff!' And lo, it forthwith swallowed up their lying invention. 117 ۞ Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. 118 Thus were they there defeated and brought low. 119 And down fell the sorcerers, prostrating themselves 120 and said, "We believe in the Lord of the Universe, 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Pharaoh said: Ye believe in Him before I give you leave! Lo! this is the plot that ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive its people hence. But ye shall come to know! 123 most certainly shall I cut off your hands and your feet in great numbers, because of [your] perverseness, and then I shall most certainly crucify you, in great numbers, all together!" 124 They said: "Verily, we are returning to our Lord. 125 And you do not resent us except because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You]." 126

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
