Said the eminent among the people of Pharaoh, "Indeed, this is a learned magician 109 who seeks to drive you from your land what do you command' 110 They said: put him and his brother off, and send unto the cities callers. 111 And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed." 112 And the wizards came to Pharaoh, saying: Surely there will be a reward for us if we are victors. 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 They said: O Musa! either thou cast down, or we shall be the ones to cast down. 115 He answered: "You throw [first]." And when they threw down [their staffs,] they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and struck them with awe, and produced mighty sorcery. 116 And We inspired Moses (saying): Throw thy staff! And lo! it swallowed up their lying show. 117 ۞ Thus was the Truth vindicated and that which they were doing was made vain. 118 They were therefore defeated here and they turned back humiliated. 119 threw themselves down in prostration 120 They said, 'We believe in the Lord of all Being, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron' 122 Pharaoh said: Ye believe in Him before I give you leave! Lo! this is the plot that ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive its people hence. But ye shall come to know! 123 I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then will I crucify you all together. 124 They said: verily unto our Lord we are turning. 125 And you do not resent us except because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You]." 126
