The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said, "This is most surely a skillful magician, 109 and said, "He wants to expel you from your land." They asked (others), " what is your opinion in the matter? 110 They answered: "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send unto all cities heralds 111 "To bring all the wise magicians to you." 112 And the wizards came to Pharaoh, saying: Surely there will be a reward for us if we are victors. 113 He said: "Yea, (and more),- for ye shall in that case be (raised to posts) nearest (to my person)." 114 They said: O Musa! will you cast, or shall we be the first to cast? 115 He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ Thus was the Truth vindicated and that which they were doing was made vain. 118 Thus were they there defeated and brought low. 119 And the sorcerers prostrated themselves 120 Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Said Pharaoh: "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? Surely this is a trick which ye have planned in the city to drive out its people: but soon shall ye know (the consequences). 123 I shall assuredly cut off alternately your hands and feet, then I shall crucify you all together.' 124 They answered: "Verily, unto our Sustainer do we turn 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
