The assembly of Pharaoh's nation said: 'This man is a wellversed sorcerer 109 who wants to drive you out of your land! " [Said Pharaoh:] "What, then, do you advise?" 110 Others said: 'Put them off a while, he and his brother, and send forth to your cities gatherers 111 To bring each knowing wizard unto thee. 112 And the enchanters came to Firon (and) said: We must surely have a reward if we are the prevailing ones. 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 They said: O Musa! will you cast, or shall we be the first to cast? 115 He said: Throw! And when they threw they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and overawed them, and produced a mighty spell. 116 We inspired Moses to throw his staff, and suddenly it began to swallow-up all that the magicians had (falsely) invented. 117 ۞ Thus the truth was upheld, and the falsehood that they practised was exposed. 118 they were defeated and turned belittled, 119 And the magicians flung themselves prostrate. 120 saying, "We declare our belief in the Lord of the Universe, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' 122 Fir'awn said: believed ye in him ere I have given you leave? Verily this is a plot ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive forth the people thereof. So presently ye shall know. 123 I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then will I crucify you all together. 124 They said: "For us, We are but sent back unto our Lord: 125 You would take revenge on us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Lord, pour patience upon us and let us die as submitters (Muslims)' 126
