Said the Chiefs of the people of Pharaoh: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed. 109 Who wants to expel you from your land [through magic], so what do you instruct?" 110 They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers 111 “To bring all the expert magicians to you.” 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said, "We must have our reward if we are to gain a victory over him (Moses)". 113 He said: yea! and verily ye shall be of those brought nigh. 114 They said: O Moses! Either throw (first) or let us be the first throwers? 115 Said Moses: "Throw ye (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them: for they showed a great (feat of) magic. 116 Then We inspired Moses, saying, "Throw down your staff." And it immediately swallowed up their false devices. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and what they did became null. 118 So the (great ones) were vanquished there and then, and were made to look small. 119 And the sorcerers fell down prostrate. 120 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron' 122 Said Pharaoh: "Have you come to believe in him ere I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have cunningly devised in this [my] city in order to drive out its people hence! But in time you shall come to know, [my revenge]: 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on alternate sides and then crucify you all!" 124 They said: verily unto our Lord we are turning. 125 And what is it for which thou takest vengeance on us save that we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came unto us? Our Lord! pour out upon us perseverance and cause us to die as Muslims. 126
