The nobles of Pharaoh said: "He surely is a clever magician. 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 They said, "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send into the cities summoners, 111 That they may bring to thee every magician knowing. 112 And the wizards came to Pharaoh, saying: Surely there will be a reward for us if we are victors. 113 He said, 'Yes, indeed; and you shall be among the near-stationed.' 114 They said: O Moses! Either throw (first) or let us be the first throwers? 115 He [Musa (Moses)] said: "Throw you (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them, and they displayed a great magic. 116 And We inspired to Moses, "Throw your staff," and at once it devoured what they were falsifying. 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed, and that which they had brought vanished. 118 Thus they were vanquished there, and they went back abased. 119 And the sorcerers were cast down, bowing themselves. 120 Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Pharaoh said: 'What! Do you believe before you have my permission? Surely this is a plot you have contrived to drive out the rulers from the capital. So you shall see, 123 I shall assuredly cut off alternately your hands and feet, then I shall crucify you all together.' 124 They said, "Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
