The assembly of Pharaoh's nation said: 'This man is a wellversed sorcerer 109 Who would expel you from your land. Now what do ye advise? 110 They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers 111 “To bring all the expert magicians to you.” 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said: "Is there reward for us if we succeed?" 113 He said: "Yes, and moreover you will (in that case) be of the nearest (to me)." 114 So they said: "O Moses, you may cast your spell first, or we shall cast ours." 115 Said Moses: "Throw ye (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them: for they showed a great (feat of) magic. 116 And We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 they were defeated and turned belittled, 119 But the sorcerers fell down prostrate in adoration. 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Said Pharaoh: "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? Surely this is a trick which ye have planned in the city to drive out its people: but soon shall ye know (the consequences). 123 Surely I will cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides and thereafter I will crucify you all. 124 They said, “We shall return to our Lord.” 125 Thou takest vengeance on us only forasmuch as we believed the tokens of our Lord when they came unto us. Our Lord! Vouchsafe unto us steadfastness and make us die as men who have surrendered (unto Thee). 126
