The chiefs of Firon's people said: most surely this is an enchanter possessed of knowledge: 109 “He wishes to expel you all from your kingdom; so what do you advise?” 110 They said, "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send into the cities summoners, 111 Who will bring you every learned magician." 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said: "Is there reward for us if we succeed?" 113 He said, 'Yes, indeed; and you shall be among the near-stationed.' 114 They said: O Musa! will you cast, or shall we be the first to cast? 115 Said Moses: "Throw ye (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them: for they showed a great (feat of) magic. 116 And We inspired Moosa that, “Put forth your staff”; it immediately began swallowing up their fabrications. 117 ۞ Thus was the Truth vindicated and that which they were doing was made vain. 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and put to shame, 119 and the magicians flung themselves prostrate, 120 They said, 'We believe in the Lord of all Being, 121 The Lord of Musa and Haroun. 122 Firon said: Do you believe in Him before I have given you permission? Surely this is a plot which you have secretly devised in this city, that you may turn out of it its people, but you shall know: 123 I will cut off on opposite sides a hand and a foot, and then crucify you all' 124 They answered: "Verily, unto our Sustainer do we turn 125 "And you take vengeance on us only because we believed in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims." 126
