Some of the Pharaoh's nobles considered him to be no more than a skillful magician 109 Who wants to expel you from your land [through magic], so what do you instruct?" 110 Then they advised Pharaoh: 'Put off Moses and his brother for a while, and send forth heralds to your cities 111 Who will bring you every learned magician." 112 And the wizards came to Pharaoh, saying: Surely there will be a reward for us if we are victors. 113 Pharaoh replied, "Certainly, and you shall also become my courtiers." 114 They said: O Musa! either thou cast down, or we shall be the ones to cast down. 115 'Throw' he replied. And when they threw, they bewitched the people's eyes and terrified them, and produced great sorcery. 116 And We revealed to Moses: 'Cast thy staff!' And lo, it forthwith swallowed up their lying invention. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and what they did became null. 118 The magicians who were defeated on the spot and were proved to be worthless, 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 They said: We believe in the Lord of the worlds, 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron. 122 Said Firaun, “You have accepted faith in Him before I gave you permission! This is indeed a grand conspiracy you have plotted in the city, in order to expel its people from it; so now you will come to know!” 123 I shall cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides, and then crucify you all.' 124 They said: Lo! We are about to return unto our Lord! 125 And you do not resent us except because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You]." 126
