Said the chieftains of Firaun’s people, “He is really an expert magician.” 109 who seeks to drive you from your land!" Pharaoh said, "What then do you advise?" 110 They said: Put him off and his brother, and send collectors into the cities: 111 "To bring all the wise magicians to you." 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said, "We must have our reward if we are to gain a victory over him (Moses)". 113 'Yes' he answered, 'and you will be among those near' 114 They said: "O Moses! Either thou shalt throw [thy staff first,] or we shall [be the first to] throw." 115 Moses said: 'You throw.' So when they threw [their rods], they enchanted the eyes of the people, and struck them with awe, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 And We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. 117 ۞ So the truth came to pass, and false was proved what they were doing. 118 Thus they were overcome and made to look abject. 119 And the enchanters were thrown down, prostrating (themselves). 120 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Said Pharaoh, 'You have believed in Him before I gave you leave. Surely this is a device you have devised in the city that you may expel its people from it. Now you shall know! 123 I will cut off on opposite sides a hand and a foot, and then crucify you all' 124 They said: verily unto our Lord we are turning. 125 "And you take vengeance on us only because we believed in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims." 126
