The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said, "This is most surely a skillful magician, 109 and said, "He wants to expel you from your land." They asked (others), " what is your opinion in the matter? 110 They said, 'Put him and his brother off a while, and send among the cities musterers, 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said, "We must have our reward if we are to gain a victory over him (Moses)". 113 "Yes," said he, "you will be among the honoured." 114 They said, “O Moosa! You may throw first – or shall we be the first to throw?” 115 He [Musa (Moses)] said: "Throw you (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them, and they displayed a great magic. 116 And we revealed unto Musa: cast down thy rod. And lo! it was swallowing up that which they had feigned. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and what they did became null. 118 So they were defeated there and then, and were returned disgraced. 119 and the magicians flung themselves prostrate, 120 And said: "We have come to believe in the Lord of all the worlds, 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 The Pharaoh said to the magicians, "You declared your belief in him (Moses) without my permission. This is a plot to throw my people out of their city. But you will soon know. 123 I will cut off on opposite sides a hand and a foot, and then crucify you all' 124 They said: verily unto our Lord we are turning. 125 You would punish us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they were shown to us. Our Lord, pour patience upon us, and cause us to die in a state of submission to You." 126
