The great ones among Pharaoh's people said: "Verily, this is indeed a sorcerer of great knowledge, 109 "His plan is to get you out of your land: then what is it ye counsel?" 110 They answered: "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send unto all cities heralds 111 And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed." 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and asked, "Shall we have a reward, if we should prevail?" 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 They said: "O Moses! Either thou shalt throw [thy staff first,] or we shall [be the first to] throw." 115 He said, 'You cast.' And when they cast they put a Spell upon the people's eyes, and called forth fear of them, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 We put it into Moses's mind by inspiration: "Throw (now) thy rod": and behold! it swallows up straight away all the falsehoods which they fake! 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed, and that which they had brought vanished. 118 And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased. 119 And the magicians flung themselves prostrate. 120 They said: we believe in the Lord of the worlds. 121 "The Lord of Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)." 122 Pharaoh said: 'Do you believe in Him before I permit? This is a plot that you have contrived in the city in order to expel its people from it. Now you shall know! 123 "I will have your hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, and have you all crucified." 124 They said: verily unto our Lord we are turning. 125 You only take revenge on us because we believed in the Lord when we saw His miracles. Lord, grant us patience and let us die Muslims (submitted to God)." 126
