The nobles of Pharaoh said: "He surely is a clever magician. 109 who wants to drive you out of your land! " [Said Pharaoh:] "What, then, do you advise?" 110 They said: "Put him and his brother off (awhile) and send out heralds to the cities 111 "That they bring up to you all well-versed sorcerers." 112 And the magicians came to Firaun, and said, “Will we get some reward if we are victorious?” 113 He said: "Yes, and moreover you will (in that case) be of the nearest (to me)." 114 The magicians asked Moses, "Will you throw your staff first or shall we?" 115 Said Moses: "Throw ye (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them: for they showed a great (feat of) magic. 116 And We revealed to Musa, saying: Cast your rod; then lo! it devoured the lies they told. 117 ۞ So the truth was proved and their works were disproved. 118 Thus were they there defeated and brought low. 119 and the sorcerers prostrated themselves, 120 They said, 'We believe in the Lord of all Being, 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Said Pharaoh, "You believed in him before I gave you permission. Indeed, this is a conspiracy which you conspired in the city to expel therefrom its people. But you are going to know. 123 “I swear I will cut off your hands and your feet from alternate sides and then crucify you all.” 124 They said: "Verily, we are returning to our Lord. 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
