The great ones among Pharaoh's people said: "Verily, this is indeed a sorcerer of great knowledge, 109 He intends to turn you out of your land. What counsel do you then give? 110 They said, 'Put him and his brother off a while, and send among the cities musterers, 111 to summon every wellversed sorcerer to you' 112 And the sorcerers came unto Pharaoh [and] said: "Verily, we ought to have a great reward if it is we who prevail." 113 He said: Yes, and you shall certainly be of those who are near (to me). 114 They said: 'Moses, will you throw first or shall we be the throwers' 115 Said Moses: "Throw ye (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them: for they showed a great (feat of) magic. 116 And We inspired to Moses, "Throw your staff," and at once it devoured what they were falsifying. 117 ۞ Thus the Truth prevailed and their false art was banished. 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and put to shame, 119 And the enchanters were thrown down, prostrating (themselves). 120 They said: "We believe in the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Fir'awn said: believed ye in him ere I have given you leave? Verily this is a plot ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive forth the people thereof. So presently ye shall know. 123 I will cut off on opposite sides a hand and a foot, and then crucify you all' 124 They said, "Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 125 "The only reason you have to hate us is that we believed in the signs of our Lord as they came to us. O our Lord, give us sufficient endurance that we may die submitting (to You)." 126
