Some of the Pharaoh's nobles considered him to be no more than a skillful magician 109 Who would expel you from your land. Now what do ye advise? 110 They said (unto Pharaoh): Put him off (a while) - him and his brother - and send into the cities summoners, 111 To bring each knowing wizard unto thee. 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh. They said, "Indeed for us is a reward if we are the predominant." 113 "Yes," said he, "you will be among the honoured." 114 Then they said: 'O Moses, will you [first] throw your rod, or shall we throw?' 115 He said, "You throw [first]!" When they made their cast, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck them with awe, for they showed a great [feat of] magic. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ Thus was the Truth vindicated and that which they were doing was made vain. 118 The magicians who were defeated on the spot and were proved to be worthless, 119 And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]. 120 They said: "We believe in the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Said Pharaoh, 'You have believed in Him before I gave you leave. Surely this is a device you have devised in the city that you may expel its people from it. Now you shall know! 123 “I swear I will cut off your hands and your feet from alternate sides and then crucify you all.” 124 They said, "Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 125 You would take revenge on us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Lord, pour patience upon us and let us die as submitters (Muslims)' 126
