Said the Council of the people of Pharaoh, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.” 111 “To bring all the expert magicians to you.” 112 The sorcerers came to Pharaoh. They said: 'Shall we be rewarded if we are the winners' 113 Answered [Pharaoh]: "Yes; and verily, you shall be among those who are near unto me." 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 He said, "You throw [first]!" When they made their cast, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck them with awe, for they showed a great [feat of] magic. 116 And We inspired Moses (saying): Throw thy staff! And lo! it swallowed up their lying show. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and what they did became null. 118 they were defeated and turned belittled, 119 And the sorcerers were cast down, bowing themselves. 120 They said: We believe in the Lord of the worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 The Pharaoh said to the magicians, "You declared your belief in him (Moses) without my permission. This is a plot to throw my people out of their city. But you will soon know. 123 Surely I shall have your hands and feet cut off upon alternate sides. Then I shall crucify you every one. 124 They answered: "Verily, unto our Sustainer do we turn 125 “And what did you dislike in us, except that we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Pour (bestow abundantly) patience on us, and bestow us death as Muslims.” 126
