The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said, "This is most surely a skillful magician, 109 and said, "He wants to expel you from your land." They asked (others), " what is your opinion in the matter? 110 Others said: 'Put them off a while, he and his brother, and send forth to your cities gatherers 111 Who will bring you every learned magician." 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and asked, "Shall we have a reward, if we should prevail?" 113 He said, "Yes, and, [moreover], you will be among those made near [to me]." 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 He replied, "Throw yours first." Their great magic bewitched people's eyes and terrified them. 116 We put it into Moses's mind by inspiration: "Throw (now) thy rod": and behold! it swallows up straight away all the falsehoods which they fake! 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed and what they had produced came to nothing: 118 they were defeated and turned belittled, 119 And the sorcerers prostrated themselves 120 They said: "We believe in the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 121 the Sustainer of Moses and Aaron!" 122 But Pharaoh said: "You have come to accept belief in Him without my permission! This surely is a plot you have hatched to expel the people from the land. You will soon come to know. 123 Surely I will cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides and thereafter I will crucify you all. 124 They replied: 'We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 You would punish us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they were shown to us. Our Lord, pour patience upon us, and cause us to die in a state of submission to You." 126
