The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 “He wishes to expel you all from your kingdom; so what do you advise?” 110 They said: put him and his brother off, and send unto the cities callers. 111 who should bring to you every skillful magician." 112 And the magicians came unto Fir'awn. They said: surely there is for us a reward if we are the overcomers. 113 He said, "Yes, and, [moreover], you will be among those made near [to me]." 114 Then they said: 'O Moses, will you [first] throw your rod, or shall we throw?' 115 Moses said: 'You throw.' So when they threw [their rods], they enchanted the eyes of the people, and struck them with awe, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 Then We revealed to Moses: 'Now, throw down your staff' And thereupon it swallowed up their false invention. 117 ۞ Thus the truth was upheld, and the falsehood that they practised was exposed. 118 Thus they were overcome and made to look abject. 119 and the sorcerers prostrated themselves, 120 Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron. 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 I will cut off on opposite sides a hand and a foot, and then crucify you all' 124 They said: "For us, We are but sent back unto our Lord: 125 Will you punish us just because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Shower us with perseverance and cause us to die as those who have submitted [to You].' 126
