Al-A 'araaf 14 of 24
The nobles of Pharaoh said: "He surely is a clever magician. 109 "He wishes to drive you away from the land. So what do you advise?" 110 They said, 'Put him and his brother off a while, and send among the cities musterers, 111 “To bring all the expert magicians to you.” 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and asked, "Shall we have a reward, if we should prevail?" 113 He said, "Yes, and, [moreover], you will be among those made near [to me]." 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 "You cast it first," answered Moses. When they cast their spell, they bewitched the eyes of the people and petrified them by conjuring up a great charm. 116 And We inspired Moses (saying): Throw thy staff! And lo! it swallowed up their lying show. 117 ۞ whereupon the truth was established, and vain was proved all that they had been doing. 118 And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased. 119 and the sorcerers prostrated themselves, 120 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 121 “The Lord of Moosa and Haroon.” 122 Pharaoh said: 'Do you believe in Him before I permit? This is a plot that you have contrived in the city in order to expel its people from it. Now you shall know! 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on alternate sides and then crucify you all!" 124 They replied, "We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 Will you punish us just because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Shower us with perseverance and cause us to die as those who have submitted [to You].' 126

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
