1/4 Hizb 17
< random >
The nobles of Pharaoh said: "He surely is a clever magician. 109 who seeks to drive you from your land!" Pharaoh said, "What then do you advise?" 110 They said: put him and his brother off, and send unto the cities callers. 111 "That they bring up to you all well-versed sorcerers." 112 And the magicians came unto Fir'awn. They said: surely there is for us a reward if we are the overcomers. 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 They said, “O Moosa! You may throw first or shall we be the first to throw?” 115 He said, 'You cast.' And when they cast they put a Spell upon the people's eyes, and called forth fear of them, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 And We revealed to Moses: 'Cast thy staff!' And lo, it forthwith swallowed up their lying invention. 117 ۞ Thus the Truth prevailed and their false art was banished. 118 they were defeated and turned belittled, 119 threw themselves down in prostration 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 But Pharaoh said: "You have come to accept belief in Him without my permission! This surely is a plot you have hatched to expel the people from the land. You will soon come to know. 123 “I swear I will cut off your hands and your feet from alternate sides and then crucify you all.” 124 They said, “We shall return to our Lord.” 125 Thou takest vengeance on us only forasmuch as we believed the tokens of our Lord when they came unto us. Our Lord! Vouchsafe unto us steadfastness and make us die as men who have surrendered (unto Thee). 126
