The great ones among Pharaoh's people said: "Verily, this is indeed a sorcerer of great knowledge, 109 who desires to expel you from your land; what do you command?' 110 Others said: 'Put them off a while, he and his brother, and send forth to your cities gatherers 111 Who will bring you every learned magician." 112 And so the sorcerers came to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). They said: "Indeed there will be a (good) reward for us if we are the victors." 113 He said, "Yes, and, [moreover], you will be among those made near [to me]." 114 They said, "Moses, will you first throw, or shall we?" 115 Moses said: 'You throw.' So when they threw [their rods], they enchanted the eyes of the people, and struck them with awe, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 And we revealed unto Musa: cast down thy rod. And lo! it was swallowing up that which they had feigned. 117 ۞ So, the truth prevailed and what they were doing was annulled; 118 And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased. 119 And the sorcerers prostrated themselves 120 They said: "We believe in the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 121 the Sustainer of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Pharaoh said: Ye believe in Him before I give you leave! Lo! this is the plot that ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive its people hence. But ye shall come to know! 123 "Surely, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then I will crucify you all." 124 The magicians said, "We will certainly return to Our Lord. 125 for thou takest vengeance on us only because we have come to believe in our Sustainer's messages as soon as they came to us. O our Sustainer! Shower us with patience in adversity, and make us die as men who have surrendered themselves unto Thee!" 126
