And (as to) those who reject Our communications, We draw them near (to destruction) by degrees from whence they know not. 182 for, behold, though I may give them rein for a while. My subtle scheme is exceedingly firm! 183 Has it, then, never occurred to them that there is no madness whatever in [this] their fellowman? He is only a plain warner. 184 Do they not look into the realm of the heavens and the earth and everything that Allah has created and [think] that perhaps their appointed time has come near? So in what statement hereafter will they believe? 185 To such as Allah rejects from His guidance, there can be no guide: He will leave them in their trespasses, wandering in distraction. 186 They ask thee about the (final) Hour - when will be its appointed time? Say: "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord (alone): None but He can reveal as to when it will occur. Heavy were its burden through the heavens and the earth. Only, all of a sudden will it come to you." They ask thee as if thou Wert eager in search thereof: Say: "The knowledge thereof is with Allah (alone), but most men know not." 187 Say [O Prophet]: "It is not within my power to bring benefit to, or avert harm from, myself, except as God may please. And if I knew that which is beyond the reach of human perception, abundant good fortune - would surely have fallen to my lot, and no evil would ever have touched me. I am nothing but a warner, and a herald of glad tidings unto people who will believe." 188
