۞ It is He who created you from a soul. From it He created its mate, so that he might reside with her. And when he had covered her, she conceived, and for a time her burden was light. She carried it with ease, but when it grew heavy, they both supplicated to Allah, their Lord: 'Grant us a goodly child and we will be among the thankful' 189 But when He gives them a good one, they set up with Him associates in what He has given them; but high is Allah above what they associate (with Him). 190 Attribute they as partners to Allah those who created naught, but are themselves created, 191 And who cannot succour them, nor can succour themselves. 192 And if ye call them to the Guidance, they follow you not. Whether ye call them or are silent is all one for you. 193 Verily, those whom you call upon besides Allah are slaves like you. So call upon them and let them answer you if you are truthful. 194 Have they feet wherewith they wend? Have they hands wherewith they grip? Have they eyes wherewith they see? Have they ears wherewith they hearken? Say thou: call upon your associate gods, and then plot against me and respite me not. 195 "For my Protector is Allah, Who revealed the Book (from time to time), and He will choose and befriend the righteous. 196 "But those ye call upon besides Him, are unable to help you, and indeed to help themselves." 197 And if you invite them to guidance, they do not hear; and you see them looking at you while they do not see. 198 Hold to forgiveness; command what is right; But turn away from the ignorant. 199 And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is Hearing and Knowing. 200 When any evil suggestion from Satan touches those who fear God, they are instantly alerted and become watchful; 201 And their brothers, they prolong them in error, and they will never stop. 202 And if you do not bring them a miracle [according to their (i.e. Quraish-pagans') proposal], they say: "Why have you not brought it?" Say: "I but follow what is revealed to me from my Lord. This (the Quran) is nothing but evidences from your Lord, and a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe." 203 So when the Qur'an is recited, listen carefully to it, and keep silent so that you may, be shown mercy.' 204 And remember thou thy Lord within thyself with humility and fear, without loudness in word, in the morning and evenings; and be thou not of the negligent. 205 Verily those who are with thy Lord are not stiff-necked against His worship, and they hallow, and unto Him they prostrate themselves. ۩ 206
