۞ It is He Who has created you from a single person (Adam), and (then) He has created from him his wife [Hawwa (Eve)], in order that he might enjoy the pleasure of living with her. When he had sexual relation with her, she became pregnant and she carried it about lightly. Then when it became heavy, they both invoked Allah, their Lord (saying): "If You give us a Salih (good in every aspect) child, we shall indeed be among the grateful." 189 But when He vouchsafeth the twain a goodly child they set up unto Him associates in respect of that which He hath vouchsafed to them. Exalted be Allah far from that which they associate! 190 Do they associate with Him those who create nothing and are themselves created? 191 No help can they give them, nor can they help themselves. 192 It makes no difference whether you call on them or remain silent. If you call them to the right path, they will not follow you. 193 Verily, all those whom you invoke beside God are but created beings like yourselves: invoke them, then, and let them answer your prayer - if what you claim is true! 194 Do they have feet by which they walk? Or do they have hands by which they strike? Or do they have eyes by which they see? Or do they have ears by which they hear? Say, [O Muhammad], "Call your 'partners' and then conspire against me and give me no respite. 195 My guardian is Allah Who has revealed the Book, and it is He Who protects the righteous. 196 Those whom you call on besides Him have no power to help you, nor can they help themselves." 197 (Muhammad), if you invite them to the right guidance, they will not listen to you. You will see them looking at you but they do not really see. 198 Take to forgiveness and enjoin good and turn aside from the ignorant. 199 If an evil impulse from Satan provokes you, seek refuge with God; He is all hearing, and all knowing. 200 Lo! those who ward off (evil), when a glamour from the devil troubleth them, they do but remember (Allah's Guidance) and behold them seers! 201 But their brethren (the evil ones) plunge them deeper into error, and never relax (their efforts). 202 And if you do not bring them a miracle [according to their (i.e. Quraish-pagans') proposal], they say: "Why have you not brought it?" Say: "I but follow what is revealed to me from my Lord. This (the Quran) is nothing but evidences from your Lord, and a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe." 203 When the Koran is recited, listen to it in silence in order that Allah has mercy upon you. 204 And remember your Lord within yourself humbly and fearing and in a voice not loud in the morning and the evening and be not of the heedless ones. 205 Behold, those who are near unto thy Sustainer are never too proud to worship Him; and they extol His limitless glory, and prostrate themselves before Him [alone]. ۩ 206
