۞ It is He who created you from one soul and created from it its mate that he might dwell in security with her. And when he covers her, she carries a light burden and continues therein. And when it becomes heavy, they both invoke Allah, their Lord, "If You should give us a good [child], we will surely be among the grateful." 189 But when He gives them a good one, they set up with Him associates in what He has given them; but high is Allah above what they associate (with Him). 190 Do they attribute as partners to Allah those who created nothing but they themselves are created? 191 The idols are things that are not able to help others or even themselves. 192 If you call them to guidance, they will not follow you. It is the same whether you call them or you are silent. 193 Those whom you invoke besides God are created beings like you. So call on them and let them answer your call, if what you say is true. 194 Have they feet on which they can walk? Have they hands with which they can grasp? Have they eyes with which they can see? Have they ears with which they can hear? Say [O Muhammad]: 'Invoke all those to whom you ascribe a share in Allah's divinity, then scheme against me and grant me no respite. 195 My guardian is Allah Who has revealed the Book, and it is He Who protects the righteous. 196 "And those whom you call upon besides Him (Allah) cannot help you nor can they help themselves." 197 If thou callest them to guidance, they hear not. Thou wilt see them looking at thee, but they see not. 198 Accept the easing, order with fine jurisprudence, and avoid the ignorant. 199 If a provocation from Satan should provoke thee, seek refuge in God; He is All-hearing, All-seeing. 200 Lo! those who ward off (evil), when a glamour from the devil troubleth them, they do but remember (Allah's Guidance) and behold them seers! 201 but the followers of devils are led relentlessly into error by them. They never desist. 202 If you, (Muhammad), do not show them a miracle, they will keep on insisting that you must show them one. Say, "I only follow what is revealed to me from my Lord. This (Quran) contains wisdom for you from your Lord. It contains guidance and mercy for those who have faith. 203 So when the Qur'an is recited, listen thereto and keep silence, haply ye may be shewn mercy. 204 And remember your Lord by your tongue and within yourself, humbly and with fear without loudness in words in the mornings, and in the afternoons and be not of those who are neglectful. 205 Indeed those who are with your Lord are not conceited towards worshipping Him, and they proclaim His Purity and it is to Him they prostrate.
