The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ They ask you about the windfalls. Say: The windfalls are for Allah and the Apostle. So be careful of (your duty to) Allah and set aright matters of your difference, and obey Allah and His Apostle if you are believers. 1 Indeed the believers are those whose hearts quake at the mention of Allah, and when His verses are recited to them it increased them in faith. They are those who put their trust in their Lord. 2 Who establish prayer and who expend of that wherewith We have provided them. 3 Those are the believers, truly. For them are degrees [of high position] with their Lord and forgiveness and noble provision. 4 As it was your Lord who rightfully brought you forth from your house, even though some of the believers disliked it, 5 Disputing with you regarding the truth after it had been made clear, as if they were being herded towards a visible death. 6 And when God promised you one of the two parties should be yours, and you were wishing that the one not accoutred should be yours; but God was desiring to verify the truth by His words, and to cut off the unbelievers to the last remnant, 7 So that Truth may be affirmed and falsehood negated, even though the sinners be averse. 8 And recall when you implored your Lord for help and He responded to you: 'I will indeed reinforce you with a thousand angels, coming host after host.' 9 God has sent this glad news to comfort your hearts. Victory is in the hands of God alone. God is Majestic and All-wise. 10
