The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ They ask you about the spoils (of war). Say: 'The spoils belong to Allah and the Messenger. Therefore, have fear of Allah and set things right between you. Obey Allah and His Messenger, if you are believers' 1 true believers are those whose hearts tremble with awe at the mention of God, and whose faith grows stronger as they listen to His revelations. They are those who put their trust in their Lord, 2 Those who keep up prayer and spend (benevolently) out of what We have given them. 3 Such in truth are the believers: they have grades of dignity with their Lord, and forgiveness, and generous sustenance: 4 As your Lord sent you from your home (to fight) for the true cause, a section of the faithful were averse, 5 They disputed with you about the truth after it had become clear, (and they went forth) as if they were being driven to death while they saw (it). 6 [Remember, O believers], when Allah promised you one of the two groups - that it would be yours - and you wished that the unarmed one would be yours. But Allah intended to establish the truth by His words and to eliminate the disbelievers 7 in order that He might verify the truth and annul the falsehood, even though the wrongdoers hated it. 8 And recall what time ye implored our Lord and He answered you: verily I am about to succour you with a thousand of angels rank in rank. 9 Allah made it but a message of hope, and an assurance to your hearts: (in any case) there is no help except from Allah: and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise. 10
