▼ 8 The Spoils of War
Al-Anfaal 3 of 10

O believers, obey God and His Messenger, and do not turn away from Him, even as you are listening; 20 And be not like those who said, We hear, and they did not obey. 21 ۞ The worst beasts before Allah are those who are deaf, dumb, and do not understand. 22 And if Allah had known any good in them He would have made them hear, and if He makes them hear they would turn back while they withdraw. 23 Believers, respond to Allah and the Messenger when he calls you to that which revives you. Know that Allah is between the person and his heart, and that toHim you shall all be gathered. 24 And beware of that temptation to evil which does not befall only those among you who are bent on denying the truth, to the exclusion of others; and know that God is severe in retribution. 25 And recall when you were few in numbers and deemed weak in the land, fearful lest people do away with you. Then He provided you refuge, strengthened you with His help, and provided you sustenance with good things that you may be grateful. 26 O you who have believed, do not betray Allah and the Messenger or betray your trusts while you know [the consequence]. 27 and know that your wealth and your children are a trial, and that with God is a mighty wage. 28
