O ye who believe! Obey Allah and His Messenger, and turn not away from him when ye hear (him speak). 20 And do not be like those who say, "We have heard," while they do not hear. 21 ۞ Verily the vilest of beasts with Allah are the deaf and dumb who understand not. 22 Had they possessed any virtue, God would certainly have made them hear. Even if God were to make them hear, they would still turn away from (the words of God). 23 O you who have attained to faith! Respond to the call of God and the Apostle whenever he calls you unto that which will give you life; and know that God intervenes between man and [the desires of] his heart, and that unto Him you shall be gathered. 24 And fear an affliction which may not smite those of you in particular who are unjust; and know that Allah is severe in requiting (evil). 25 And remember, when ye were few and reckoned feeble in the land, and were in fear lest men should extirpate you, how He gave you refuge, and strengthened you with His help, and made provision of good things for you, that haply ye might be thankful. 26 O you who believe! be not unfaithful to Allah and the Apostle, nor be unfaithful to your trusts while you know. 27 and know that your worldly goods and your children are but a trial and a temptation, and that with God there is a tremendous reward. 28
