The hypocrites and those whose hearts were perverted said, "These people [the believers] must be deluded by their religion." But he who places his trust in God [knows that], God is Almighty and Wise. 49 If you could see, when the angels take the souls of those who are bent on denying the truth [at death], how they strike their faces and backs: saying "Taste the punishment of the Burning! 50 "This is because of that which your hands had forwarded. And verily, Allah is not unjust to His slaves." 51 Similar to the behaviour of the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and of those before them; they rejected the Ayat (proofs, verses, etc.) of Allah, so Allah punished them for their sins. Verily, Allah is All-Strong, Severe in punishment. 52 This is because Allah does not change the favour He has bestowed upon any people until they first change themselves, and indeed Allah is All Hearing, All Knowing. 53 (Deeds) after the manner of the people of Pharaoh and those before them": They treated as false the Signs of their Lord: so We destroyed them for their crimes, and We drowned the people of Pharaoh: for they were all oppressors and wrong-doers. 54 Surely the vilest of animals in Allah's sight are those who disbelieve, then they would not believe. 55 (especially) those with whom you entered into a covenant and then they broke their covenant time after time, and who do not fear Allah. 56 If ye gain the mastery over them in war, disperse, with them, those who follow them, that they may remember. 57 If thou fearest treachery from any group, throw back (their covenant) to them, (so as to be) on equal terms: for Allah loveth not the treacherous. 58
