▼ 8 The Spoils of War
Al-Anfaal 9 of 10

O Prophet! Rouse the believers to fighting. If they be twenty of you who persevere they shall vanquish two hundred; and if there be of you a hundred, they shall vanquish a thousand of those who disbelieve, for they are a people who lack understanding. 65 Now God has lightened it for you, knowing that there is weakness in you. If there be a hundred of you, patient men, they will overcome two hundred; if there be of you a thousand, they will overcome two thousand by the leave of God; God is with the patient. 66 It is not for any prophet to have captives until he hath made slaughter in the land. Ye desire the lure of this world and Allah desireth (for you) the Hereafter, and Allah is Mighty, Wise. 67 Had there not been a previous decree from Allah, a stern punishment would have afflicted you for what you have taken. 68 But now use such of the spoils as are lawful and good, and fear God, for God is forgiving and kind. 69
