Jonah (Younus)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Alif. Lam. Ra. These are verses of the Wise Scripture. 1 It is a matter of wonderment to the mankind that we should reveal unto a man among them saying: warn thou the mankind, and bear those who have believed the glad tidings that theirs shall be a sure footing with their Lord! The infidels say: verily this is a sorcerer manifest. 2 Your Lord is God who created the heavens and the earth in six spans, then assumed His power, dispensing all affairs. None can intercede with Him except by His leave. He is God, your Lord, so worship Him. Will you not be warned? 3 To Him will you all return: God's promise is true. It is He who originates creation, then will revert it, so that He may reward those who believe and do good things in all justice. But those who deny the truth will receive boiling water to drink and grievous punishment, for they disbelieved. 4 He it is who has made the sun a [source of] radiant light and the moon a light [reflected,] and has determined for it phases so that you might know how to compute the years and to measure [time]. None of this has God created without [an inner] truth. Clearly does He spell out these messages unto people of [innate] knowledge: 5 Most surely in the variation of the night and the day, and what Allah has created in the heavens and the earth, there are signs for a people who guard (against evil). 6 Verily, those who hope not for their meeting with Us, but are pleased and satisfied with the life of the present world, and those who are heedless of Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), 7 Their abode is the Fire, because of the (evil) they earned. 8 Those who believe and do good deeds will be guided by their Lord because of their faith. Rivers shall flow at their feet in the Gardens of Bliss. 9 Their cry in it shall be: Glory to Thee, O Allah! and their greeting in it shall be: Peace; and the last of their cry shall be: Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. 10
