But none believed in Musa except the offspring of his people, on account of the fear of Firon and their chiefs, lest he should persecute them; and most surely Firon was lofty in the land; and most surely he was of the extravagant. 83 Moses said: "O my people! If ye do (really) believe in Allah, then in Him put your trust if ye submit (your will to His)." 84 They said: 'We have put our trust in Allah. Our Lord, do not let us be a temptation to the harmdoing nation. 85 and save us, by Thy grace, from people who deny the truth!" 86 And We revealed to Musa and his brother, saying: Take for your people houses to abide in Egypt and make your houses places of worship and keep up prayer and give good news to the believers. 87 Moses prayed: 'Our Lord! You bestowed upon Pharaoh and his nobles splendour and riches in the world. Our Lord! Have You done this that they may lead people astray from Your path? Our Lord! Obliterate their riches and harden their hearts that they may not believe until they observe the painful chastisement. 88 Allah said: surely the petition of you twain is accepted, so keep straight on, and follow not the path of those who know not. 89 ۞ And We made the children of Israel to pass through the sea, then Firon and his hosts followed them for oppression and tyranny; until when drowning overtook him, he said: I believe that there is no god but He in Whom the children of Israel believe and I am of those who submit. 90 What! now! and indeed you disobeyed before and you were of the mischief-makers. 91 So today We shall deliver thee with thy body, that thou mayest be a sign to those after thee. Surely many men are heedless of Our signs.' 92
